Canyon Lake AC & Heating Repair
Canyon Lake is a Hill Country lake community in Comal County with full-time residents, retirees, second homes and vacation rentals. Air Care Today serves homes around the lake with AC, heating and heat pump service.
Getting to Canyon Lake
Canyon Lake is roughly 30 to 35 miles from San Marcos, depending on which side of the lake you're on. Most routes run through New Braunfels and up FM 306.
Canyon Lake homes and HVAC
Homes around Canyon Lake range from older lake cabins and modest houses to large newer homes on the hills above the water. Many properties use heat pumps, electric heat or propane because natural gas isn't widely available. Second homes and rentals may sit empty for weeks, and a system can fail without anyone noticing until the next visit.
Climate and local conditions
Hill Country summers are hot, and homes near the water deal with extra humidity. Steep lots and wooded terrain mean outdoor units can be hard to reach and collect leaves and cedar debris. Winters are mild, but cold fronts can bring freezing nights.
Because many lake homes sit empty part of the year, small problems such as a clogged condensate drain, a failed capacitor or a dead thermostat battery can turn into water damage or a hot, humid house by the time someone notices. A spring checkup before lake season is a simple way to avoid that.
Tips for Canyon Lake homeowners and businesses
- For second homes, a Wi-Fi thermostat lets you check that the system is running from anywhere.
- Keep the home slightly cooled in summer even when empty, to control humidity and mildew.
- Have heat pumps and propane heat checked before the first cold front.
